What’s the name of this camellia?

- JULIA JENKINS, BY EMAIL

This is Camellia williamsii ‘Donation’ – a popular variety with a free-flowering habit and bright pink flowers. It generally grows well but can be lax when young. Like all the C. williamsii varieties, the flowers drop off when mature. They’ll cover the soil but keep the plant looking attractive – and not covered with old, browning blossoms.
