Sow the hordeum

Garden Answers (UK) - - Easy Gardening -

Treat the foxtail barley as a hardy annual, surface sowing it February to April and placing in a propagator for steady warmth. You can also direct sow in April or May, or under cover in September, as you would any other hardy annual. Prick out and pot on several seedlings per pot – to give a more established-looking scheme – then plant out after all risk of frost, 23cm (9in) apart. If plants do overwinter, comb them through in spring for a general tidy up.
