Feeding a late clematis
Q How and when should I feed my late-summer-flowering clematis? LUCY CLEUGH, BY EMAIL
AHow much you feed a clematis depends on whether it’s growing in the ground or in a pot. In the open ground you just need to apply an organic rose or tomato feed to the soil in spring, while potted clematis will need a high-potash liquid fertiliser every week from spring until flowering time. However, it’s best to stop feeding once the flowers open because overfeeding could reduce flowering time. Any high-potash fertiliser for flowers is suitable, or you can use a tomato feed.
