You will need: Rusty wheel or sim­i­lar sal­vage item with rope to hang it from a strong tree l small ter­ra­cotta pots l gar­den twine l 250g (8oz) vegetable suet or lard l ap­prox 500g (17oz) equal quan­ti­ties of rolled oats, wild bird seed, grated cheese, crushed peanuts l hips and berries to dec­o­rate How to make it 1. Mix the oats, seed, cheese and nuts to­gether in a bowl. 2. Melt the vegetable suet in a pan and grad­u­ally stir in the dry mix un­til the fat is ab­sorbed. Al­low to cool slightly. 3. Thread a length of twine through each pot – pro­vid­ing suf­fi­cient length to sus­pend them. 4. Us­ing a wooden spoon, scoop the suet mix into a few of the pots. 5. Sus­pend the pots from a branch (or your rusty sal­vage item), adding loose berries, hips and seed to the re­main­ing pots. Dec­o­rate with berry gar­lands.
