BETSY FLANAGAN, CORK

ACrocosmias prefer a sunny site – but that doesn’t mean they like bone dry conditions. They actually grow best in rich, moist soil and struggle during drought. They can also become crowded after several years and benefit from being divided. This is best done in February, as they start to grow but before the new shoots have become too long.
