Q When’s the best time to prune our lavender bushes?

Garden Answers (UK) - - Problems Solved - ROSEMARY & CLIVE WILSON, WORTHING, WEST SUSSEX

A English lavender (L. angustifolia) should be pruned little and often to keep it neat and healthy. This avoids plants becoming straggly and bare at the base. So, lightly trim plants after flowering and again in spring, in March or April, to keep them looking good. Avoid cutting back into leafless ‘woody’ stems.
