Q Could I grow tulips in a hanging basket?
RACHEL INGRAM, NEWARK
A Tulips aren’t the best bulbs for baskets because the flowers face upwards, so unless your baskets are hung quite low, the flowers won’t display well. Dwarf daffodils, little blue scillas and chionodoxa are better bulbs for baskets. But, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could try planting tall tulips that will flop over and make a colourful display of blooms on curiously bent stems.
