A Sambucus nigra ‘Eva’ (‘Black Lace’) is a quickgrowing, tough shrub with finely dissected dark leaves that can look similar to a Japanese maple. It has pink blooms in June and black winter berries. H3m (10ft) S2m (6½ft). Golden-leaved elders are also available, such as ‘Aurea’ and ‘Golden Tower’.
