Collect rose hips
Collect colourful hips of shrub and species roses, such as Rosa rugosa, for sowing. Separate the seeds from the flesh by breaking the hip apart with your fingers in a bowl of warm water. The seeds sink and can be strained off. Sow them in trays or pots of gritty, sandy or Vermiculiteimproved compost and cover lightly with the same. Put the trays in a cold frame or stand outside over winter and they should germinate in spring.
