Feed hungry roses

-

Roses should thrive with just a little bit of extra care this summer. Spring offers a great chance to provide nutrients to these hungry plants as they’re preparing to open their buds. Apply a general-purpose or rose fertiliser around the base at around 70g per sq m, followed by a generous layer of mulch, such as wellrotted garden compost or manure. Don’t mulch too close to the stems, as this could burn them and lead to rotting. Ideally, leave a 10cm (4in) gap around stems.
