Roses, roses everywhere!

Growing roses in various ways has left me with the unerring impression that the nation’s favourite flower just gets better and better. Breeders are responding to our need for varieties which are more compact, long blooming, disease and weather resistant and, of course, possessed of a seductive fragrance. Many gardeners grow them in containers, as well as in borders. Roses are truly versatile and this week on page 14 we show just how useful they can be.
