Thinning and planting

-

The hardy sprouts fared be er than most in the cool weather and are ready to be planted out. They’re strong plants, so a big hole is made and lined with lime and the sprout plant inserted up to its bo om leaves. The hole’s filled with compost and the stem collared. There will now be a long wait before these produce a crop. They’re joining the rest of the brassicas in the same patch and a careful watch is kept for cabbage white bu erflies, so a net is put over the patch to protect them.

My parsnips were planted some time ago in large drums and have finally decide decided to put on a spurt. There we were two parsnips per stationstatio so it’s time to become Mr Nasty,Nas as one of these must be re removed to allow the other to de develop! The weakest is removed, remove but don’t be tempted to rep replant it as disturbed roots of pa parsnip will almost certainly fo fork.

?? ?? I’m being brutal and thinning every other parsnip!
