Four essential autumn ‘housekeeping’ jobs
Clean out your water butt
Don’t let dirty, standing water hang about. It won’t be any good for watering plants with if it’s harbouring pests and disease.
Sharpen and clean tools
Give your tools a thorough wash. Once sparkling clean, sharpen those that need it and spray with rust blocker.
Clear away dead foliage
Wet, rotting foliage and fallen leaves need throwing away so they can’t carry pests and disease and spread them around.
Wash pots and surfaces
While you can’t clean everything perfectly, you can lessen the chance of nasties remaining. Use a stiff brush and soapy warm water.
