Carry out garden repairs

It’s the ideal time to get your garden shipshape for spring

-

It’s time to make do and mend! A nice dry day in late autumn or winter is the perfect pottering time to tend to all those repairs and other tasks that have reared their heads over the year – loosened fences, damaged pots, faded furniture. Perhaps the recent storms have taken their toll and there are repairs to be done? Well, be proactive now and you won’t have to do all those little jobs in spring, Plus, freshened-up fences, sheds and pots will make your garden colourful and more appealing at this time of year.

After a long year of changeable weather, it can be wearing on your garden surfaces, and we must keep them tip-top or they’ll fall apart. At worst, cold frames and sheds that haven’t been cleaned and looked after can get grimy and pass on fungal infection or harboured pests to plants. Use wood treatment on surfaces to protect against weather, rot and insect damage. And perk up pots, sheds and fences with a splash of bright paint, too.
