Clear out pond debris

At this time of year, ponds can become clogged with all manner of debris such as fallen leaves, fruits and seed heads as well as rubbish that has blown in. Using a net or rake, skim any debris off the surface of the water before it starts to rot down and emit gases that will upset the balance of your pond’s ecosystem. Before adding the wet material to your compost, place it on the side of the pond to allow any extracted pond life to escape back into the water.
