How to plant a tree
Dig a hole wider than the rootball or pot height, but the same depth and loosen peripheral soil. Soak the rootball well in a bucket. Place into the hole, loosening and spreading out the roots. Backfill the hole, so the tree is planted at the same depth before and ensuring there are no air pockets. Firm the soil and water well. Add a stake and tree-guard if necessary. A layer of mulch will help suppress weeds. In its first year, water well in dry weather to help the tree establish.
