Five handy tips to the top
1 Use chipped bark and lots of it. It keeps the weeds down while keeping moisture in and that’s important on sandy, freedraining soil. 2 It’s difficult to apply organic material with a bark mulch. Growmore, a granular generalpurpose feed, is easy to apply and gets washed through slowly. 3 Don’t let an area of your garden get out of hand, because it’s a job to get it back. Keep on top of it from the off! 4 We divide as li le as we can and only if plants are going backwards. We have to divide geums, as they tend to go out of flower, and Iris
sibirica because mature clumps develop bare middles. 5 Don’t make your garden too busy by using lots of different plants. It’s always be er to plant in blocks of the same thing.
