Help locate our tawnies
Can you spare a little time to help out with a new tawny owl survey? The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) is trying to do a census based on information provided by volunteers, and would welcome help from Garden News readers. All you have to do is spend 20 minutes listening for owl calls between nightfall and midnight. Then, send in a report whether or not you hear anything – even an absence of owls is useful data. Find out more by visiting www.bto.org and selecting the Volunteer Surveys option. Then look for the Tawny Owl Calling Survey on the Project Owl page.
