Overwinter tender plants

-

Some of the best summer flowering bedding and pot plants are tender ones that can be overwintered in the greenhouse – select pelargoniums, tender fuchsias, salvias, gazanias and argyranthemums to name a few. Remove the yellowing leaves and deadhead the flowers. Large plants can be pruned back by at least a third – they will soon go back into growth. Pot them into multi- purpose compost if they are from the border. Keep them very lightly watered, and use fleece if temperatures may dip below 5°C. Growth will be a bit spindly over winter but the flowers keep coming.
