Maximise your mint harvest

If you’re partial to a refreshing herbal cuppa, why not grow your own supply of different flavoured mint varieties within snipping distance of the kettle? Mint can be sold off cheap at this time of year, so head to the garden centre for bargains that can be easily revived by pruning off summer’s unruly growth, or blag some rooted cuttings from a friend. Once establishe­d, mint will last for years – in fact, the plants can quickly become invasive, so growing in a container is ideal.
