The tubular flowers of the salvia are popular with long-tongued bees, and the open daisy-like flowers of the rudbeckia are particularly popular feeding stations for butterflies. When the flowers fade, plant the rudbeckia and campanula in the garden. Keep the salvia protected from the worst of the winter weather in a porch or cold greenhouse, then plant it out again in spring. Flowers from May until the first frosts.
