Plant fruit trees and bushes
If you buy fruit trees and bushes in pots now, they can be planted out straight away so they can push their roots out into the warm soil before the winter sets in. Prepare a large planting hole with plenty of organic matter forked into the base. Make sure the top of the rootball will be level with the surface of the soil once the hole is backfilled. Soak the bottom of the hole, then tease out some of the roots before planting. Firm the soil well around the roots and use an angled stake to avoid damaging the roots.
