Cut down on mowing

Gardeners' World - - Around The Garden -

You don’t need to mow every week now; frequency will depend on growth. Mow in the afternoon when the dew has evaporated and don’t mow if a frost is expected. Cutting grass short weakens the grass plants while lawn weeds pressed close to the ground surface are not touched. If the grass is kept a bit longer it has a better chance of thickening up and competing with the weeds. For the best results, grub the weeds out then lift the blade setting.

As the lawn’s growth rate lessens, you can spend less time mowing
