Lychnis flos-cuculi Jenny (= ‘Lychjen’)

Gardens Illustrated Magazine - - Dig In Plantsman’s Favourites -

With powder-puff, pink blooms, this is a delightful take on the native ragged robin. It resents drying out – much like its resident cousin – and is best grown in a cooler, damp border, although it also does very well in a pot. I tend to use it in pots or slipped into the border as a filler, especially among cold blues. I also cut flowers for the house as it does particularly well. The flowers are very long lasting and can be had from May into August; deadheading and light pea-sticking will help keep the show going. Height 40cm. Origin Garden origin. Conditions Moist soil that does not dry out; part shade. Hardiness RHS H7, USDA 4a-8b. Season Spring into summer.
