Artists from around the world are join­ing forces on 18 May, to cre­ate a world­wide ex­hi­bi­tion that will high­light the beauty of the planet’s plant di­ver­sity. Co-or­di­nated by the Amer­i­can So­ci­ety of Botan­i­cal Artists, ex­hi­bi­tions in 25 coun­tries from Costa Rica to Ukraine, will fea­ture botan­i­cal art­works of na­tive plants, such as the Phormium tenax shown left by New Zealand artist Suzy Ab­bott. In the UK, the As­so­ci­a­tion of British Botan­i­cal Artists is tak­ing part with the ex­hi­bi­tion In Ruskin’s Footsteps at the Ruskin Li­brary and Peter Scott Gallery at Lan­caster Univer­sity. This will fea­ture 40 art­works of the UK’s na­tive flora along with ma­te­rial re­lat­ing to John Ruskin. Ex­hi­bi­tions are also tak­ing place at the Shirley Sher­wood Gallery at the Royal Botanic Gar­dens, Kew, and the RHS Lind­ley Li­brary.
