Claremont Gardens is a masterclass in scale, space, balance and the drama of simplicity. Fundamentally this is a landscape of just grass, water, trees and rhododendrons with a few hidden jewels to discover and delight in. Charles Bridgeman’s curvaceous three-acre, grass amphitheatre sits magisterially above William Kent’s serpentine lake and it is hard not to see connections between this 300-year-old landscape and the work of Charles Jencks and Kim Wilkie.
