Unless you’ve been living under a glitterball since the middle of September, you can’t have failed to notice that Steps have already had a comeback on top of their comeback!

New single, Dancing With a Broken Heart, landed on 20 September, and as you know it’s a bit of a stormer…

The song was produced by Carl Ryden, who also wrote Scared of the Dark. It was written by Delta Goodrem, who the band are big fans of, and John Shanks. John co-wrote and produced most of Take That’s comeback songs from Beautiful World and The Circus. That’s pretty much a formula for pop royalty, right?

The single sleeve for Dancing With a Broken Heart was shot on Friday 8 September, on the set of the brand new video.

But that’s not all, of course…

As if a non-album new single so soon wasn’t enough, the band also announced a further FOUR new songs!

September Sun is a bit of a Summer of Love or Paradise Lost

‘Latino-tinged sizzler’.

Fool For You is written by Carl Ryden and Fiona Bevan who wrote Scared of the Dark and Neon Blue.

Beautiful Battlefield is a supertheatrical mid-tempo song about love being a bit of a minefield...

There’s also an original Christmas song, a gorgeous ballad called Dear Santa, which we’re told would suit the John Lewis Christmas adverts perfectly…

They all form part of a special re-release of the Tears on the Dancefloor album – the Crying At The Disco deluxe edition is released on 27 October, and Dear Santa is a bonus digital track.

Preparations for the Party on the Dancefloor tour continue – now with even more songs to choose from – with Steps having completed filming on the tour screen video footage in September. We’re told to be prepared for lots of crazy costumes and quite a few sexy dancers…
