Man ar­rested over as­sault

DE­TEC­TIVES in­ves­ti­gat­ing a se­ri­ous as­sault al­leged to have hap­pened out­side Maesteg Com­mu­nity Hospi­tal have made an ar­rest.

A 24-year-old man was taken to hospi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries after the in­ci­dent last Wed­nes­day evening.

A spokesman for South Wales Po­lice said a 44-year-old man from the Llan­harry area was taken to Queens Road po­lice sta­tion, Brid­gend, where he was ques­tioned on sus­pi­cion of as­sault.

The man who was as­saulted at around 6.15pm was ad­mit­ted to the Princess of Wales Hospi­tal in Brid­gend be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to Univer­sity Hospi­tal Wales in Cardiff where he re­mains in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion.
