Sun­day ser­vices: All Saints Church Penyfai:

First Sun­day of the month: Holy Eucharist at 10am.

Sec­ond Sun­day of the month: Holy Eucharist 11.30am.

Third Sun­day of the month: Morn­ing Prayer, 8.30am.

Forth Sun­day of the month: Benefice Eucharist 11am.

Fifth Sun­day of the month: Benefice Eucharist at 11am, fol­lowed by lunch.

Smyrna Chapel ser­vices: A tra­di­tional Sun­day school ser­vice in Smyrna Chapel, Penyfai, al­ways starts at 10.30am and the evening ser­vices take place in Smyrna Chapel start­ing at 6pm.

There is a cof­fee morn­ing every Tues­day in the Smyrna Chapel vestry from 10am12noon where stalls of pro­duce are also on of­fer.

Bi­ble stud­ies take place on Thurs­days at 7.15pm and are led by Mar­lyn James and Dorothy Evans. New­com­ers to the vil­lage of Penyfai are al­ways made very wel­come.

Lo­cal shop: Con­grat­u­la­tions go to San­dra Tick­ner of the Se­lec­tion Box Shop, Penyfai, from friends and cus­tomers for be­ing one of the top 100 in­de­pen­dent run stores in the United king­dom for the sec­ond year run­ning.

Back to school: It was back to school this week for the pupils of the Penyfai Church in Wales school after the sum­mer hol­i­day break so I’m sure they’ve en­joyed catch­ing up with all their class­mates on what they all did in the sum­mer hol­i­days. Some chil­dren will be start­ing school for the first time while oth­ers will be chang­ing classes and hav­ing new teach­ers. The head­teacher makes every­one wel­come in this very friendly school

Penyfai WI News: The next meet­ing of the Penyfai WI will be on September 18 when

Com­mu­nity coun­cil: There will be a lot to dis­cuss in the September meet­ing of the New­cas­tle Higher Com­mu­nity Coun­cil after the August break.

The agenda is be­ing com­plied by the clerk to the coun­cil John Rich­field.

Re­ports will be given by coun­cil­lors from Penyfai and Aberkenfig and ad­vice is needed on po­lice mat­ters with cer­tain scams op­er­at­ing in car parks in the area.

Play and Com­mu­nity Play­group: The play­group is open to chil­dren from two to four years of age and is held from 9.15am3pm in the af­ter­noon from Mon­day to Fri­day dur­ing term time.
