MARK Emery (Brid­gend) com­pleted a quick­fire dou­ble last week in win­ning the fi­nal Brid­gend Run­ning League event of the year – the Tuska Beach 5k at Rest Bay in Porth­cawl.

Hav­ing the pre­vi­ous week tri­umphed in the fifth leg of the pro­gramme – the New­bridge Fields event – his win­ning time on this oc­ca­sion was 18 min­utes and 6 sec­onds.

Run­ner-up Sean Lewis (Brackla Har­ri­ers) clocked 18:29 with the other top10 places go­ing to Neil Jones (Og­more Phoenix) 19:09, Thomas Cartwright (Pen­coed Tri Club) 19:30, Rowan Hobbs (Brid­gend) 19:40, Geraint Lewis (Porth­cawl Run­ners) 19:49, Daniel Ni­cholas (Cor­nelly Strid­ers) 19:50, Dave Moore (Brackla Har­ri­ers) 19:53, Stephen Jenk­ins 19:58 and Philip Welch (both Brid­gend) 19:59.

Top fe­male and 18th over­all was Gemma RocheClarke (Brid­gend) in a time of 20:42 from Jazmine Bri­g­anti (Brackla Har­ri­ers) 21:36 (28th), Natalie War­ren 22:31 (41st), Lucy Ed­wards (both Cor­nelly Strid­ers) 22:41 (45th) and Emily Buck­well (Brackla Har­ri­ers) 23:00 (50th).

That brought the cur­tain down on the sec­ond league year and the pro­fes­sion­al­ism was ap­pre­ci­ated of Steve Brace, his wife Jac­que­line, Stu­art David­son and Derek Crow­der.

Over­all Brid­gend Run­ning League sea­sonal de­tails will be car­ried in next week’s col­umn.

Mean­while, the annual Brid­gend County League Pre­sen­ta­tion Night is at the Hi Tide Inn in Porth­cawl on Oc­to­ber 6.

Tick­ets cost­ing £7 in­clude a meal and can be booked on (01656) 782432 or in per­son at the Hi Tide Inn.

And once the pre­sen­ta­tion cer­e­mony has been com­pleted, it’s then a case of those at­tend­ing danc­ing the night away.
