MARK Emery (Bridgend) completed a quickfire double last week in winning the final Bridgend Running League event of the year – the Tuska Beach 5k at Rest Bay in Porthcawl.
Having the previous week triumphed in the fifth leg of the programme – the Newbridge Fields event – his winning time on this occasion was 18 minutes and 6 seconds.
Runner-up Sean Lewis (Brackla Harriers) clocked 18:29 with the other top10 places going to Neil Jones (Ogmore Phoenix) 19:09, Thomas Cartwright (Pencoed Tri Club) 19:30, Rowan Hobbs (Bridgend) 19:40, Geraint Lewis (Porthcawl Runners) 19:49, Daniel Nicholas (Cornelly Striders) 19:50, Dave Moore (Brackla Harriers) 19:53, Stephen Jenkins 19:58 and Philip Welch (both Bridgend) 19:59.
Top female and 18th overall was Gemma RocheClarke (Bridgend) in a time of 20:42 from Jazmine Briganti (Brackla Harriers) 21:36 (28th), Natalie Warren 22:31 (41st), Lucy Edwards (both Cornelly Striders) 22:41 (45th) and Emily Buckwell (Brackla Harriers) 23:00 (50th).
That brought the curtain down on the second league year and the professionalism was appreciated of Steve Brace, his wife Jacqueline, Stuart Davidson and Derek Crowder.

Meanwhile, the annual Bridgend County League Presentation Night is at the Hi Tide Inn in Porthcawl on October 6.

And once the presentation ceremony has been completed, it’s then a case of those attending dancing the night away.
