Arranged by CF31 BID, Roots Street Festival will bring together a free day of live music, street food and family activities.

The event returns after a successful debut in May. Boasting a variety of acts, the festival will see The Blims, Captain Accident and The Disasters, Weapons of Mass Percussion, Electric Swing Circus, Ballet Nimba Band and Samba Galez in the town centre to entertain resi- dents and visitors during the day.

Celebrating family and diversity, festival goers can enjoy a variety of activities including mad science workshops, go karting, belly dancing, trampolining, graffiti workshops and a skate ramp, with plenty more on hand to keep everyone in the fam- ily occupied. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of the free parking incentive at The Rhiw, launched last month.

The offer will allow visitors to the town centre to access two hours of free parking.

Justin Jenkins, manager of CF31 BID, said: “The Roots Street Festival was incredibly popular earlier this year and we’re confident that this event will grow into one of our signature events for the town.

“We’re committed to helping Bridgend become a colourful, diverse town centre and we really want people to see that there are plenty of quality busi- nesses, as well as entertainment and activities on their doorstep.

“This is a great way of introducing visitors to what Bridgend has to offer, and with free parking at The Rhiw for the first two hours and free activities, its promising to be a great day out for the entire family.”

CF31 BID is one of the latest business improvement districts in Wales, joining Cardiff, Swansea and Neath with the aim of enhancing town and city centres.

The aim is to create a brighter Bridgend for residents and visitors, and improve prospects for local businesses.

Samba Galez will be performing in Bridgend on Saturday at the Roots Street Festival which has been arranged by CF31 BID
