Police appeal after thieves break in to Maesteg college
BURGLARS have targeted a college just as students begin the new academic year.
The Maesteg campus of Bridgend College was broken into overnight between Tuesday, September 5, and Wednesday, September 6.
A spokesman said thieves smashed the glass on the back door to gain entry. A Mac computer worth around £500 was taken.
A police spokeswoman confirmed they are investigating and appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
“Thieves targeted the college on Castle Street sometime between the evening of Tuesday, September 5 and the morning of Wednesday, September 6, helping themselves to Apple computer equip- ment,” she said.
The college confirmed that one silver Mac computer, 2014 spec, had been stolen.
A spokeswoman said: “The matter was reported to the police and swift action was taken – the forensic team came in.
“This didn’t hinder any learning on Wednesday morning. The learners were taken to an upstairs classroom to continue their learning and as soon as the forensic team finished the learners had access to the room immediately.”
Police said anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time, or who has any information about the theft or the stolen goods, should contact 101, quoting reference 17000347998. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
