COLIN McQueen and Me­lanie Wil­liams were the in­di­vid­ual win­ners and Brackla Harriers the cham­pion club in this year’s Brid­gend County Run­ning League.

Fol­low­ing an­other six suc­cess­ful events this year, the of­fi­cial league re­sults were last week re­leased.

Brackla Harriers won the team event with 2,274 points from Brid­gend 3,151, Og­more Phoenix Run­ners 3,648, Porth­cawl Run­ners 4,263, Cornelly Strid­ers 4,771, Pen­coed Tri Club 7,099 and Pen­coed Pan­thers 7,844.

McQueen was the in­di­vid­ual male win­ner with 78.27 from his Brackla Harriers team-mate Ian Ogilvie 78.25 while Keith Pow­ell (Cornelly Strid­ers) took third spot on 76.94.

Me­lanie Wil­liams was suc­cess­ful in the fe­male event, reg­is­ter­ing 77.12, to fin­ish in front of Brackla Harriers col­league Char­lotte Jenk­ins 75.45 while Gabriella Booth (Porth­cawl Run­ners) se­cured third place on the strength of 75.19.

Mean­while, the an­nual Brid­gend County League Pre­sen­ta­tion Night is at the Hi Tide Inn in Porth­cawl on Oc­to­ber 6.

Tick­ets cost­ing £7 in­clude a meal and can be booked on (01656) 782432 or in per­son at the Hi Tide Inn.

And once the pre­sen­ta­tion cer­e­mony has been com­pleted, it’s then a case of those at­tend­ing danc­ing the night away.
