BRIDGEND COUNTY RUNNING LEAGUE
COLIN McQueen and Melanie Williams were the individual winners and Brackla Harriers the champion club in this year’s Bridgend County Running League.
Following another six successful events this year, the official league results were last week released.
Brackla Harriers won the team event with 2,274 points from Bridgend 3,151, Ogmore Phoenix Runners 3,648, Porthcawl Runners 4,263, Cornelly Striders 4,771, Pencoed Tri Club 7,099 and Pencoed Panthers 7,844.
McQueen was the individual male winner with 78.27 from his Brackla Harriers team-mate Ian Ogilvie 78.25 while Keith Powell (Cornelly Striders) took third spot on 76.94.
Melanie Williams was successful in the female event, registering 77.12, to finish in front of Brackla Harriers colleague Charlotte Jenkins 75.45 while Gabriella Booth (Porthcawl Runners) secured third place on the strength of 75.19.
Meanwhile, the annual Bridgend County League Presentation Night is at the Hi Tide Inn in Porthcawl on October 6.
Tickets costing £7 include a meal and can be booked on (01656) 782432 or in person at the Hi Tide Inn.
And once the presentation ceremony has been completed, it’s then a case of those attending dancing the night away.
