For more information, contact the Rev Anthony Beer on 01656 859487. Smyrna Chapel services: A traditional Sunday school service in Smyrna Chapel, Penyfai, always starts at 10.30am and the evening services take place in Smyrna Chapel starting at 6pm.
There is a coffee morning every Tuesday in the Smyrna Chapel vestry from 10am-12noon where stalls of produce are also on offer.
Bible studies take place on Thursdays at 7.15pm and are led by Marlyn James and Dorothy Evans.
Newcomers to the village of Penyfai are always made very welcome.
Woodland Trust: Trustees and members have another volunteer day after the summer holidays and to start afresh in the woodland on September 24 from 10am-12noon, all are welcome.
Aberkenfig Public Toilets: The reopening of the Aberkenfig Toilets is under review by The Newcastle Higher Community Council.
The clerk to the Community Council John Richfield has been in contact with the group manager of street works who advised there is currently no plans to reopen the toilets by Bridgend County Borough Council.
The matter of the need for toilets that everyone can use will be on the agenda for the next meeting of the community council in October.

Play and Community Playgroup: The playgroup is open to children from two to four years of age and is held from 9.15am3pm in the afternoon from Monday to Friday during term time.
