Smyrna Chapel ser­vices: A tra­di­tional Sun­day school ser­vice in Smyrna Chapel, Penyfai, al­ways starts at 10.30am and the evening ser­vices take place in Smyrna Chapel start­ing at 6pm.

There is a cof­fee morn­ing ev­ery Tues­day in the Smyrna Chapel vestry from 10am-12noon where stalls of pro­duce are also on of­fer.

Bible stud­ies take place on Thurs­days at 7.15pm and are led by Mar­lyn James and Dorothy Evans.

New­com­ers to the vil­lage of Penyfai are al­ways made very wel­come.

Wood­land News: The next meet­ing of the Coed Penyfai Wood­land Trust will take place on the last Thurs­day night of Septem­ber at 8pm, the agenda will be full this month with re­ports from the vol­un­teer day in

Play and Com­mu­nity Play­group: The play­group is open to chil­dren from two to four years of age and is held from 9.15am3pm in the af­ter­noon from Mon­day to Fri­day dur­ing term time.

Can­cer Re­search UK: The an­nual Tough 10 Run: Help Beat Can­cer Sooner event is again be­ing held in Margam Park on Oc­to­ber 14 at 11am. Check out: margam­parkrun2017 for en­try in­for­ma­tion. En­try is £25. Twin­ning As­so­ci­a­tion: The Pen­coed group hold their of­fi­cial evening this Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 27. This will be in Pen­coed Min­ers’ Wel­fare Hall start­ing at 6.30pm.

There will be a hog roast fol­lowed by desserts. There will also be en­ter­tain­ment by Peny­bont Folk Dancers. Tick­ets cost £10.

Porth­cawl Male Voice Choir Celebrity Con­cert: This year the con­cert will be held in The Grand Pavil­ion this Satur­day, Septem­ber 30 and the guest celebrity will be Mike Doyle.

Ty Hafan Rain­bow Run: Any­one in­ter­ested in en­ter­ing the 2017 an­nual Ty Hafan 5k Rain­bow Run can reg­is­ter on­line or on the day.

Reg­is­tra­tion will start at 11.30am on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 7 in the Ty Hafan Event Vil­lage on the Prom­e­nade in front of the Coney Beach Amuse­ment Park (CF36 5BT) in Porth­cawl.

Any­body over the age of five can en­ter with a pro­viso that ev­ery­one un­der-16 has to be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult.

You can ei­ther reg­is­ter as an in­di­vid­ual at a cost of £13 or as a group at a cost of £10 per per­son (five min­i­mum).

The char­ity would like com­peti­tors to try and raise a min­i­mum of £50 in spon­sor­ship (£20 for un­der-16s) and ev­ery­one who raises the re­quired amount will be en­tered into a raf­fle for a day-out paint­balling for a party of 10.

Quiz Night: Porth­cawl Mu­seum and His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety is hold­ing a quiz evening at the Hi-Tide on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 5 at 8pm.

Bar meals are avail­able and tick­ets cost £5.
