Laleston WI: Mem­bers will be join­ing Glam­or­gan Fed­er­a­tion at the Hi-Tide Porth­cawl on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 19, for Din­ner and an Abba trib­ute evening. A trip to Chel­tenham was to be ar­ranged for some­time in Novem­ber with more in­for­ma­tion next month.

The WI’s Christ­mas Lunch will be held on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 12 – venue to be given at the Oc­to­ber meet­ing.

Any ladies wish­ing to join Laleston WI would be most wel­come – just come along on the first Thurs­day of each month at The Blandy Hall Laleston. Con­tact Diane Mar­shall on 01656 656 600 for more de­tails.

Aber­gavenny Food Fes­ti­val: The fundrais­ing trip to Aber­gavenny Food Fes­ti­val or­gan­ised by Manuela Hi­ett raised £180 in sup­port of the Bridge Men­tor­ing Plus scheme. Some 32 per­sons joined the coach and en­joyed the day. All send a big thank you to Manuela!

Har­vest Auc­tion: A Har­vest Auc­tion will be held in The Pheas­ant on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 6, to be fol­lowed by a Har­vest Sup­per of chicken or fish and chips for ap­prox­i­mately 30 peo­ple. All are wel­come.

Tick­ets cost £10 in­clu­sive of a £2 do­na­tion to our Har­vest Char­ity bring­ing help to the peo­ple of Bangladesh who are cur­rently ex­pe­ri­enc­ing se­vere floods.

A list is avail­able at the back of All Saints Church or con­tact Jenny Mor­gan.

Macmil­lan Cof­fee Morn­ing: This Fri­day Septem­ber 29, from 10am-12.30pm, Elaine Beer will be host­ing a cof­fee morn­ing in the Vicarage at Laleston as part of this year’s Macmil­lan Cof­fee

Shoe­box Cam­paign – The Samaritan’s Purse (Op­er­a­tion Christ­mas Child) shoe­box cam­paign will shortly be start­ing and although Christ­mas seems a long way off, boxes in­vari­ably have to be re­turned and at the depot by mid-Novem­ber in or­der to be cir­cu­lated around the world.

We are al­ready pre­par­ing to be in­volved across the Benefice and any­one in­ter­ested in fill­ing one or more boxes should speak with ei­ther Linda Col­lier (All Saints – 01656 663 206) or Carys Brown (St David’s and St Teilo’s – 01656 650 685) who are ac­quir­ing sup­plies of flat packed boxes which do not need wrap­ping.

Fur­ther in­for­ma­tion will be shared as soon as pos­si­ble.

Fair­trade at Christ­mas – While on the sub­ject of Christ­mas please also re­mem­ber that at the back of All Saints Church, Pen-y-Fai, there is a Fair­trade ta­ble com­plete with cat­a­logues that in­clude a Christ­mas sec­tion.
