We must provide these facilities

Glamorgan Gazette - - News -

RECENTLY I discovered the public toilets in Maesteg Bus Station are closed each weekday at 2pm, which seems to have been the case for some time.

I believe Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) are responsible for this decision.

Surely, under such circumstances, council meetings after 2pm should have no toilet facilities to ensure councillors are treated like everyone else - with contempt!

Also, I am informed that Bridgend Bus Station will be closed each day at 8.15pm, which means people have to wait outside in poor lighting, lack of supervision and lower safety levels for travellers.

If we wish to live in a safe community we must provide the necessary facilities and safety measures.

What is our community coming to if we cannot provide decent, safe environments for all? Steve Jones Garth, Maesteg

Bridgend council said: “The toilets at Maesteg bus station are temporarily closing at around 3.30pm while a member of staff recovers from a recent accident, but will return to normal as soon as possible. As regards Bridgend Bus Station, the building closes at 8pm when commercial services stop running, but the bays remain accessible.”
