Jonathan Mainwaring is a part-time peripatetic brass teacher whose costume was originally made for a school music production by Kate Barlow, who he met through his work as a professional musician. He said: “When I asked her if she could make me look like a clarinet, I never dreamed that she would do such a fantastic job.”

The music service teaches more than 2,000 pupils a week, offering lessons on all orchestral instruments and also whole class sessions such as samba drumming, pBone, ukulele and recorder. Instrumental lessons are provided free at point of delivery and can also include a loan of an instrument free of charge.

The money raised will directly impact all local pupils by allowing the service to buy new instruments and resources.
