Clear out old currency to help change lives

Glamorgan Gazette - - Your Views - Michael McIntyre Frank Greig, Community Fundraising Development Officer, Guide Dogs Cymru

HAVE you ever chuckled at Michael McIntyre’s comic diatribe on the foreign currency that lurks in our kitchen drawers?

With spring approaching, it’s a good time to clear out those obsolete coins and notes.

The charity Guide Dogs is appealing for donations of old French francs, Spanish pesetas, Dutch guilders, Italian lira – any currency is welcome and could help us to run our vital services.

It doesn’t have to be foreign currency, either. Old pennies or threepenny bits can be especially valuable to us, particularly if they were minted in key years. So clear out your clutter, and we’ll turn it into life-changing cash. It costs £55,000 for the lifetime of a guide dog, and we rely on donations to keep our services running.

You can post coins and notes in a padded envelope to Guide Dogs, Eastern Business Park, St Mellons, Cardiff CF3 5EA, or simply pop it into any Guide Dogs collecting box. For more information, ring our office on 0345 143 0195 or email Cymru-mt@guide dogs.org. uk
