First woman chief of National Eisteddfod
A WOMAN has been appointed chief executive of the National Eisteddfod of Wales for the first time.
Betsan Moses will succeed Elfed Roberts who will retire after 30 years at the helm.
Ms Moses returns to the National Eisteddfod after spending the past decade as the Arts Council for Wales’ PR chief.
She was previously head of communications for the Eisteddfod.
She said: “The Eisteddfod is an integral part of our heritage. I’m looking forward to working with the committed staff and volunteers as we continue to develop the festival in the future, discov- ering new opportunities to celebrate the Welsh language and our culture across Wales.”
Eifion Lloyd Jones, president of the National Eisteddfod Court and chair of trustees, said: “We are delighted to welcome Betsan back to the team.
“Her national and international experiences with the Arts Council for Wales will be invaluable for us as we embark on a new period in our history.”
Ms Moses, from Pontyberem, near Llanelli will join the Eisteddfod in June and Elfed Roberts will retire following this year’s festival in Cardiff Bay in August.
