ROWAN HOBBS (Brackla Har­ri­ers) carded an eighth straight win last Satur­day in Maesteg 5k Parkrun.

He com­pleted the Wel­fare Park course in a time of 18 min­utes 57 se­conds which was 49 se­conds out­side the best that he has achieved in the Llynfi Val­ley.

Adrian Pearce (un­at­tached) was run­ner-up for a fourth time, clock­ing 21:15 on this oc­ca­sion while third place went to Niki Puleio (Og­more Phoenix Run­ners) in 21:51.

The re­main­ing top-10 slots were oc­cu­pied by Paul Kearns (un­at­tached) 22:40, top fe­male An­drea Star­ritt (Brackla Har­ri­ers) 24:22, Wayne Preece (un­at­tached) 24:26, Rory Grif­fiths (Og­more Phoenix Run­ners) 24:43, James Grif­fiths (Neath Har­ri­ers) 24:44, Rob Evans 25:05 and Philip Thomas (both un­at­tached) 25:47.

Sec­ond fe­male to fin­ish in 11th spot over­all was first-time com­peti­tor Gail Howard (Pon­ty­clun Road Run­ners) in 22:55 from An­drea Evans (un­at­tached) 26:35 (15th), Mari Hig­gin­son (Brid­gend) pb 28:15 (17th) and Jane O’Neill (un­at­tached) 28:34 (18th).
