WELSH JU­NIOR IN­DOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAM­PI­ONSHIPS

TWO Brid­gend ath­letes picked up bronze medals in the Ju­nior In­door Track & Field Cham­pi­onships staged in Cardiff.

Jack O’Brien was third in the Boys U13 60 me­tres while Emily Penny did like­wise in the cor­re­spond­ing Girls U15 event.

The pre­vi­ous week­end young O’Brien won Brid­gend Ju­nior 2k Parkrun for a 26th time in 63 New­bridge Fields runs.

In the Welsh In­door Cham­pi­onships, he clocked 8.65 se­conds with the com­pe­ti­tion won by Oliver Clark­son (Swansea Har­ri­ers) in 8.31 from Joshua Beecher (Cardiff AAC) 8.32.

Just out­side the medals in fourth po­si­tion was Lewis Stephens (Brid­gend), who reg­is­tered a time of 8.67.

Mean­while, Emily Penny clocked a per­sonal best 8.22 while win­ner Gabby Dick­in­son (Cardiff AAC) got pb 8.13 and run­ner-up Ella Win­tle (Pem­brokeshire Har­ri­ers) pb 8.17.

In the U15 Girls 300m fi­nal, Jersey Jones (Brid­gend) was also just out­side the medal po­si­tions in fourth spot.

Her time was 45.58 se­conds while the win­ner, Ella Win­tle (Pem­brokeshire Har­ri­ers), clocked 43.13.
