TWO DAYS of dry weather saw 24 members of St. Mary’s Senior Section teeing off in their first full 18 hole competition for several weeks. The format was a team yellow ball Stableford competition in which teams of three players recorded the alternating nominated yellow ball score plus the better of the other two scores on each hole.

Although dry, the early morning bitter cold posed difficulties with club selection and, indeed, numb fingers. Nevertheless, with two scores counting per team, some excellent results were posted against the equivalent par of 72 points. With a six better than par score of 78 points the winning team comprised Gareth Thomas, Stuart Crowhurst and Ray Stacey. Runners up with 74points were Andrew Lane, David Hughes and Gareth Jones.
