TONDU .................... 282-3 CHEPSTOW ............ 183-9

TWO sides in fine form faced each other in this Division 1 2nd XI league clash, with Tondu being undefeated and Chepstow, losing just one fixture this season. Chepstow won the toss and elected to field but would be in for a difficult afternoon fielding innings where Tondu would take charge. Richard Ready, in fine batting form for Tondu, would smash his way to an excellent 110 runs and put his team on the front foot.

And when Ready’s teammate, Gavin Davies, decided to outscore him and hit an astounding 118, it looked like Tondu would continue their undefeated start to the season. Chepstow began their innings well, and a half-century from Thomas Franklin would give them a glimmer of hope in outscoring the home side. However, with Tondu bowling so well, as Layton Willliams, Richard Ready and Craig Townsend all taking two wickets and Morgan Parry taking three, Chepstow saw their chances fading away. They would lose all but one wicket by the fixture’s close and Tondu would end victorious by 99 runs.
