In Europe we are safe

I AM in my 80s and I remember the bombs dropping in Manchester in 1940/41. I was a child and it was terrifying. Those who have not experienced war cannot comprehend how lucky we are to have had peace for over 70 years.

We are kept safe because we are in Europe. The European Project which Winston Churchill believed in so passionately is at the centre of this. It may not be perfect but in all those years, like a family, we have not been dragged into war with our neighbours.

If only for this reason I think we should stay close to Europe. Personally, I would rather stay in Europe, but at the very least we should all have a say in what happens next.

I have heard on the news the idea of a people’s vote on any deal that Theresa May agrees with Europe. I am all for this. Name supplied Bridgend
