WITH the top two on FAW Trophy duty, Caerphilly Athletic took their chance to move second in the Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance Premier Division with a 3-2 win at Brecon Corries.

Gareth Tedstone, Nathan Cook and Alfie Leadbeater were all on target as Caerphilly moved one point behind leaders Ynyshir Albions, albeit having played a game more.

Paul Kedell struck both of Brecon’s goals.

The only other game in the league saw Merthyr Saints bag a routine 3-0 victory at a struggling Cwm Welfare outfit.

Craig James enjoyed a productive afternoon with two goals with an own goal sealing the win.

Treforest missed the chance to move top of Division One as they slipped to a 4-1 defeat to Cardiff Corinthians.

Dan Omoregie found the net twice – once from the spot – while Josh Beddis and Iwan Withers added further goals.

Blaenrhondda also fell to a heavy defeat, losing 4-0 to Tonyrefail BGC. Dan Millard stole the show with a hat-trick while Chad Nicholas completed the rout.

It means Porthcawl Town Athletic remain top, and now have games in hand.

Goals from Gareth Workman and KJ Williams helped move AFC Whitchurch off the bottom with a 2-1 victory at AFC Butetown while Penrhiwfer were 2-1 winners over Cardiff Airport.

In Division Two, Llanrumney maintained their seven-point lead at the top with a 3-0 win over basement boys Carnetown.
