ADOPTION: A new regional adoption agency, Adoption Counts, is now up and running.
Adoption services in Stockport, Manchester, Trafford, Salford and Cheshire East are now delivered through an integrated service.
Adoption Counts is only the second regional agency - as set out in the Education and Adoption Act 2016 - to become operational nationally.
By 2020, the government aims to have all adoption services delivered in this way.
Adoption Counts will be responsible for recruiting adopters, finding families for children and providing support for adoptive families.
Services will be delivered from three locations – Salford Civic Centre, Wythenshawe and Middlewich.
Sue Westwood, regional adoption agency manager, said: “Adoption Counts is a new and improved way of finding permanent homes for our most vulnerable children.”
