On the mu­sic front, there’s loads on of­fer, from for­mer Joy Di­vi­sion and New Or­der bassist Peter Hook with his band The Light, to Wake­field indie he­roes The Cribs. We’ve got some top com­edy names too....

The Cribs, Manch­ester Go­rilla De­cem­ber 8 and 9 The Cribs have an­nounced a nine-date UK res­i­den­cies tour for this De­cem­ber. The news comes off the back of the re­lease of their sev­enth stu­dio al­bum, 24-7 Rock Star S**t. The trio re­cently em­barked on a 10th an­niver­sary tour of their LP Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, What­ever, which fea­tures the smash track, Mov­ing Pic­tures. The boys will also take on Lon­don and Glas­gow, be­fore fin­ish­ing up with a three night stint in Leeds. Tick­ets now on sale.

The Movielife, Manch­ester Academy 3 Novem­ber 21 The Movielife are set to play a new run of UK dates - in­clud­ing Manch­ester on Novem­ber 21. Ahead of the tour, The Movielife will also re­lease a new al­bum – their first in 14 years – Cities In Search Of A Heart, on Septem­ber 22. Tick­ets for the Manch­ester gig are now on sale.

Saint Eti­enne, Manch­ester O2 Ritz De­cem­ber 2 En­dur­ing indie band Saint Eti­enne have re­leased dates for a long-awaited come­back tour this year, and af­ter five years un­der the radar, the band are break­ing cover with a new al­bum and tour. Formed in Lon­don in 1990 by long­stand­ing friends and mu­sic jour­nal­ists, the trio burst onto the scene with their now clas­sic cover ver­sion of Only Love Can Break Your Heart. The new tour is set to bring a mix of old clas­sics and new ma­te­rial. Tick­ets are now on sale.

Mar­mozets, Manch­ester Academy 3 Oc­to­ber 22 Rock band Mar­mozets have an­nounced de­tails of a new UK head­line tour in Oc­to­ber. The West York­shire five-piece re­leased de­but al­bum ‘The Weird And Won­der­ful Mar­mozets’ in 2011 and are work­ing on a fol­low-up record. Tick­ets are now on sale.

Peter Hook and The Light, Manch­ester Academy 3 De­cem­ber 15 Peter Hook and The Light have an­nounced a home­com­ing Manch­ester show as part of a new tour of the UK and Ire­land this year. The for­mer Joy Di­vi­sion and New Or­der star will per­form some of both bands’ great­est hits as he brings his Sub­stance tour back to the city. The bassist and his band will per­form New Or­der sin­gles com­pi­la­tion Sub­stance in its en­tirety along with the Joy Di­vi­sion com­pan­ion al­bum of the same name at the Manch­ester Academy gig on Fri­day De­cem­ber 15. Ja­son Byrne, The Lowry Oc­to­ber 27 The Man With Three Brains is the brand new show from Ja­son Byrne. ● Fol­low­ing his 2016 tour, Propped Up, the fa­mous funny man will be re­turn­ing in Oc­to­ber. His 2016 UK tour saw gi­ant ducks, rub­ber hands, owls, big wooden pegs and magic stunts, and this year he’s got even more tricks up his sleeve. He’ll be per­form­ing at The Lowry on Oc­to­ber 27 and tick­ets are on sale now.

Lee Nel­son, Mid­dle­ton Arena Oc­to­ber 13 The ‘se­ri­ous joker’, Lee Nel­son is ex­tend­ing his 2017 tour and has re­cently an­nounced a date at Mid­dle­ton Arena. Af­ter com­mit­ting to a sum­mer set of tour dates, the comic has added some au­tumn dates as well, and will be per­form­ing in Mid­dle­ton on Oc­to­ber 13. Over the last few years, the co­me­dian’s cheeky stunts have hit the head­lines, from fak­ing his way onto a live au­di­tion for Bri­tain’s Got Tal­ent and throw­ing fake bank notes at for­mer FIFA pres­i­dent Sepp Blat­ter. Tick­ets for his gig at Mid­dle­ton Arena are on sale now.
