OUR new brochure has arrived with all our new exhibitions and activities detailed for Spring and Summer. If you aren’t already on our mailing list then call in to collect your copy or pick one up at a local library.
We have lots of exciting new things for visitors to enjoy, and are catering for all ages from babies to pensioners.
As thoughts turn to spring and better weather we kick-start our family activities with our next GO Wild! afternoon on Saturday, April 21.
Explore the seasonal surprises that nature brings and have fun with a mix of science, nature and creativity. Some activity will be outdoors, weather permitting, so come dressed for exploration. The afternoon is free of charge but places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment. Book online at www. eventbrite.co.uk or call 0161 770 4742 for more information.
For adults, our new series of popular talks are back, with the first on Wednesday, April 25, at 1pm focusing on natural history. Please note that we have moved the times of our talks so that people can come during their lunch break. Talks last for around 20 minutes and are run on a drop-in basis, so why not try something different? Don’t forget that Naked Bean café is on site for coffee, cake and lunch.
For those interested in history our colleagues over in the Local Studies and Archives at 84 Union Street run regular talks and advice sessions. The Oldham historical research group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm and the next talk ‘ Votes for Women: Campaigners around Oldham’ will be on April 18.
On Tuesday, April 17, we start a new programme of monthly sessions specially designed for home educated young people or those in alternative education.
Creative Spaces’ hands-on workshops are ideal for any young person interested in arts and craft. Develop your skills as a young artist and achieve a Discover Arts Award. Please contact us for further details.
On Saturday, April 14, The Small Cinema returns with a wonderful family film - Coco (PG) won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. We will be running free family arts and crafts in the foyer from 12 with the film at 2pm. Film tickets are £3 which includes a goodie bag for children. Book your tickets at www. thesmallcinema.com or by calling in at the Gallery.
