Yarde strikes late in dramatic win

MARLAND Yarde scored a sensational injury-time try to clinch the most dramatic and priceless win of the season for Sale Sharks after a pulsating Premiership encounter with Wasps at the AJ Bell Stadium.

In a match that had absolutely everything, the Sharks fought back from going 17-0 down after 20 minutes to conjure a remarkable recovery.

Rob Webber, Byron McGuigan and Bryn Evans all scored to stun the visitors but with time virtually up, Wasps still had their noses in front at 23-27.

However, never-saydie Sale threw everything at the visitors and Faf de Klerk almost crashed over the line only to collide with Danny Cipriani in a nastylooking incident. The game was delayed almost 10 minutes before the former Sale fly-half was stretchered off with a serious looking injury.

With the clock showing 92 minutes and the atmosphere white hot, the Sharks launched one last sortie from a five-metre scrum, keeping the ball alive and the ball was eventually whipped out wide where England winger Yarde slid over the line to spark scenes of wild delirium around the ground.

The victory not only lifted Sale back into the top-six but also reignited the club’s hopes of a top-four finish and summed up everything good about Steve Diamond’s side.
